I love the Shady Creek Winery in Michigan City, so I was excited to see the Trailyard opened in Valparaiso. This restaurant has it's own appeal in vibe that differs from Shady Creek with it's industrial frame, outdoor fire pits, and patio swings. It's very pleasant, and I love that you can get cocktails and beer here as well along with the standard wines served at Shady Creek. And honestly, I think the food may be better... at least the fries.

I had a great experience here! The patio is very cute, and the food was fantastic! I had the pesto veggie risotto, and it was full of flavor, and I’m not even a vegetarian! My date really like his sandwich and “fries,” but they were definitely more like potato wedges. I do wish they had at least one more basic appetizer, like cheese curds, but that’s obviously not what they’re going for. The wine was good. Prices are ok for a date night, but a little high for a casual dinner
